Privacy Policy for Storyfold
Storyfold is an interactive storytelling application published independently by Cristian Barlutiu.
This Privacy Policy explains how Storyfold handles information when you use the Storyfold mobile application, visit storyfold.games, contact us, submit feedback, or make an in-app purchase.

1. Information We Collect
Storyfold is designed to collect as little personal information as reasonably possible.
You do not need to create an account or provide personal information to read or play stories.
Information you voluntarily provide
We may collect information that you choose to provide when you:
- submit feedback;
- leave an optional rating or written comment within the app;
- contact us through a contact form;
- email us directly.
Depending on what you submit, this information may include your:
- name;
- email address;
- message or feedback;
- rating;
- any other information you voluntarily include in your communication.
You are not required to provide this information to use the main features of Storyfold.
2. Game Progress and Preferences
Story progress, choices, settings, and other gameplay-related information are stored primarily locally on your device.
Storyfold does not require an account and does not currently synchronize your game progress with a Storyfold user profile or Storyfold-operated cloud account.
Deleting the application or clearing its local data may therefore remove saved progress.
Device operating systems may independently include application data in device backups, depending on your device and backup settings. These backups are controlled by Apple, Google, or your chosen backup provider.
3. In-App Purchases
Some stories or content within Storyfold may require an in-app purchase.
Purchases are processed by the platform through which you obtained the application, such as:
- Apple App Store; or
- Google Play.
Storyfold does not directly process or store your full payment card or banking information.
Apple and Google may provide us with limited information necessary to confirm a purchase, restore purchases, or determine whether you are entitled to access purchased content.
Their handling of payment and account information is governed by their own privacy policies and terms.
4. Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking
Storyfold does not currently use third-party advertising, behavioral advertising, or advertising tracking technologies.
Storyfold also does not currently use third-party analytics services to build profiles of users or track users across other applications or websites.
We do not sell your personal information.
We do not use personal information for cross-app or cross-site advertising.
5. Internet and Network Connections
Although much of Storyfold may function locally, the application may connect to the internet when necessary.
Network connections may be used for purposes such as:
- downloading or accessing application or story content;
- validating or restoring purchases;
- submitting feedback, ratings, or contact messages;
- opening external web content;
- receiving updates or information necessary for application functionality.
The exact network activity may change as Storyfold develops.
6. Device Permissions
Storyfold does not currently intend to require access to sensitive device features such as your:
- precise location;
- contacts;
- microphone;
- camera;
- photo library.
If a future Storyfold feature requires additional device permissions, the application will request permission through the operating system where required.
You will be able to accept or refuse those permissions using your device settings.
7. How We Use Information
Information you voluntarily provide may be used to:
- respond to questions or support requests;
- review feedback;
- improve Storyfold;
- investigate technical issues;
- understand reports about application functionality;
- communicate with you regarding a message you sent us;
- comply with legal obligations.
We do not use voluntarily submitted contact information to send marketing communications unless you have separately agreed to receive them.
8. Legal Bases for Processing
For users in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, Switzerland, and other jurisdictions that require a legal basis for processing personal data, we may process information on the following bases:
- Consent — when you voluntarily submit certain information.
- Legitimate interests — when processing is reasonably necessary to operate, maintain, secure, and improve Storyfold.
- Contractual necessity — when processing is required to provide content or functionality you have purchased or requested.

Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw that consent where applicable.

Locally stored gameplay information remains on your device until it is deleted by you, removed by the application, or lost when application data is deleted.
Information submitted through feedback or contact features is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to:
- respond to your request;
- resolve the relevant issue;
- improve the application;
- maintain appropriate business records;
- comply with legal obligations.
We may retain certain records for longer where required by law or where reasonably necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
10. Sharing of Personal Information
We do not sell personal information.
Personal information may be shared only when reasonably necessary, including with:
- Service providers that help operate Storyfold or its website, such as hosting, email, or infrastructure providers.
- Apple or Google when required for application distribution, purchases, purchase restoration, or platform services.
- Authorities or legal parties if disclosure is required by law, court order, regulatory obligation, or where reasonably necessary to protect legal rights or prevent fraud or abuse.
Service providers are expected to process information only for the purposes for which it was provided.
11. International Data Transfers
Storyfold may be available worldwide.
Information submitted to us may therefore be processed or stored in countries different from the country in which you live.
Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers of personal data, we will use appropriate legal mechanisms or service providers that provide suitable safeguards.
12. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information.
These may include the right to:
- request access to your personal information;
- request correction of inaccurate information;
- request deletion of your personal information;
- restrict certain processing;
- object to certain processing;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
- request a portable copy of certain information;
- lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Because Storyfold does not require user accounts, we may hold very little information capable of being associated with you.

13. European Economic Area and United Kingdom
If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, Cristian Barlutiu, as the publisher of Storyfold, is the data controller for personal information collected directly through Storyfold unless otherwise stated.
You have rights under applicable privacy laws, including the GDPR or UK GDPR.
You may also submit a complaint to the data protection authority in the country where you live or work if you believe your personal information has been processed unlawfully.
14. California Privacy Rights
California residents may have additional privacy rights under applicable California law.
Depending on whether the relevant legal thresholds apply, these rights may include the right to know what personal information is collected, request deletion or correction, and receive information regarding disclosure of personal information.
Storyfold does not sell personal information and does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

15. Children
Storyfold contains different stories, and the appropriate audience may vary depending on the content and age rating of an individual story.
Storyfold is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children through its optional feedback or contact features without any consent required by applicable law.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information to Storyfold inappropriately, please contact hello@storyfold.games. We will review the request and delete the information where required.
Individual stories may have their own age recommendations or content ratings.
16. Third-Party Links and Services
Storyfold may contain links to third-party websites, stores, or services.
We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties. When you interact with services operated by Apple, Google, or another provider, their privacy policies apply to their processing of your information.
17. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.
However, no electronic transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
18. Changes to This Privacy Policy
Storyfold may change over time, and this Privacy Policy may also be updated to reflect:
- new application features;
- changes to how information is handled;
- new legal requirements;
- changes to third-party services used by Storyfold.
When we make changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this policy.
For significant changes, we may also provide an additional notice through the application or website where appropriate.
Continued use of Storyfold after an updated policy becomes effective is subject to the updated Privacy Policy, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
